WEBTV

WebTV - What is the future of TV?

We are at a pivotal stage in the growth of web technology that will shape a new way in which we watch ‘TV'. Never before have independent broadcasters had such an opportunity to create a wealth of specialised content with access to a global audience. TV is becoming mobile, consumer habits are changing and an opportunity has emerged for independent broadcasters to stake their place in this emerging market.

First music, then film... Is TV next?

The introduction of MP3s and digital music downloads rocked the music industry and changed the way people listen to and access music. The same thing is happening to television. As video streaming online gets better and better and as video on demand becomes mobile, consumer habit and expectation is changing the way we watch television.

It's a richer experience

There is a very important and obvious difference between this form of broadcasting and traditional broadcasting for TV. The interface can give the audience the chance to interact with, and as a result, become part of the programming experience. By creating a ‘community' of viewers web TV channels evolve the way the audience want them to, delivering a much richer TV experience and giving us an insight into how consumers will expect to interact with programming in the future.

The web TV revolution has already started

The future of TV lies here. 2009 will see the appearance of more and more niche web TV shows that will pave the way for quality online TV that can be accessed anytime, by anyone, around the world. Users will be able to create their own TV schedule based on their viewing habits. Much like some of the online radio stations at the moment. The culture of sitting on your sofa with a remote control won't disappear but the source of the material will become the internet, and that opens the door to all sorts of broadcasters.
